Brief History:
The school of Mathematical Sciences came into being in 1978 to cope with the great advances made in the last fifty years in Mathematics.
One of the major outcomes of these changes is the emergence of computer science and statistics as disciplines of mathematics beside the classical disciplines of pure and applied mathematics. Computer science and statistics have since then found great applications in all fields and activities of society both in governmental departments and private sectors. The school has graduated a large number of bright students with good honors degrees in these two disciplines. This is also supported by the fact that many government departments as well as regular forces which employ many of our graduates are sending us large number of candidates to work for postgraduate degrees in these two particular disciplines.
Since both the facilities and qualified are available we feel that we can render much needed service to the country if the above degrees are established in this school and very much hope to find spurt from the concerned bodies in the university.
